A Texas dentist has been sued for allegedly lying about the quality of materials he used to construct a patient's crown.
The lawsuit, filed by Chris Ammons in Galveston County District Court, claims that Galveston dentist George H. Johnson Jr., DDS, used low-quality metal in one of Ammons' crowns, according to a story on setexasrecord.com.
Ammons previously saw Dr. Johnson for therapeutic pulpotomies, root canal therapy, crown buildup, and the placement of crowns. In December 2009, Ammons paid Dr. Johnson nearly $800 for a porcelain-fused-to-high-noble-metal crown, according to the complaint. When Ammons returned in January to have the crown fitted, he saw a packing slip for the crown that said it was made of porcelain-fused-to-base metal.
The suit claims that porcelain-fused-to-base-metal crowns are more difficult to work with and do not fit teeth as well.
