CDA journal addresses risk assessment, pediatric prevention

The October issue of the Journal of the California Dental Association focuses on risk assessment and caries prevention, the California Dental Association (CDA) announced.

New research findings validating the use of risk assessment and outlining the challenges and opportunities that exist when implementing the approach are among the topics covered, according to the CDA.

Pediatric caries management is also explored in an article that examines the results of a six-year retrospective study validating caries risk assessment in a caries management by risk assessment program.

The role of mothers, schools, and preventives such as xylitol, sealants, povidone (PVP)-iodine and fluoride, and silver diamine fluoride in childhood caries prevention are among the other topics addressed in the October issue.
