Three Wisconsin cities were recognized at this year's National Oral Health Conference for helping prevent tooth decay among residents through local water fluoridation.
The cities of New Richmond and Whitewater were commended for 50 years of continuous public water fluoridation. Amery received a Community Water Fluoridation Reaffirmation Award.
The annual awards are sponsored by the ADA, Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Wisconsin is a national leader in fluoridation with 90% of state residents on community water systems having access to optimally fluoridated water, according to the state Department of Health Services.
