Nanotitanium dental implants head to Russia

Manhattan Scientifics, manufacturers of the first FDA-approved dental implant made with nanotitanium, will sign a letter of intent with NanoMet, the Russian enterprise that helped create nanotitanium, for distribution of the implants in Russia.

The implants -- which possess the ability to bond more quickly to human bone and promote faster healing, according to Manhattan Scientific -- will be manufactured by Basic Dental of Albuquerque, NM.

"We're very excited about this agreement, especially considering the tremendous potential of the medical prosthetics market," said Marvin Maslow, founder of Manhattan Scientifics, in a press release. "The bottom line is that dental implants are just the tip of the iceberg of what is estimated to be a $20 billion annual market."
