A comparative wear study conducted in Germany found that BruxZir solid zirconia (Glidewell Laboratories) compared favorably to Ceramco3 (Dentsply) after more than 1 million wear cycles on a chewing simulator, Glidewell announced.
The study, carried out by dental materials and technology expert JĂĽrgen Geis-Gerstorfer, Ph.D., was conducted at the University of TĂĽbingen, Germany, where he is a professor in the department of prosthodontics.
Geis-Gerstorfer used the Willytech chewing simulator to examine the clinical performance of material samples over a simulation period of five years. After 1.2 million wear cycles under a load of 50 newtons (approximately 50 kg), BruxZir revealed barely detectable wear, Geis-Gerstorfer concluded.
The entire study can be accessed on the BruxZir product website.
