Star Refining London and the California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation have joined forces to launch a scrap crown recycling program called Crowns for Kids that provides dental services to children in need throughout California.
It is estimated that millions of dollars worth of services would be provided to underserved children statewide if the vast majority of dentists in California participated in the Crowns for Kids program, the CDA Foundation noted in a press release.
To participate in Crowns for Kids, the CDA Foundation through Star Refining provides a recycling jar for the dentists to collect scrap crowns that contain precious metal. As a result of the money generated through these collections, local community oral health access programs are then able to receive grants through the CDA Foundation.
"Our company's charitable policy is shaped by the fact that we count ourselves lucky to be in a thriving business and giving back a portion of our success to worthy causes," said Tony Stern, chairman and president of Star Refining London. "Supporting the California Dental Association Foundation through this program is as exciting as it gets."
