Partnership to create full-denture workflow in DWOS

Vita, Dreve, and Dental Wings have joined forces to deliver a digital manufacturing process for full dentures.

This partnership combines Vita's expertise in denture teeth and materials for prosthetic restorations, Dreve's 3D printing expertise, and Dental Wings DWOS (Dental Wings Open Systems) computer-aided design (CAD) capabilities.

The DWOS Full Dentures Application will include the digital design and manufacturing of both mucosa- and implant-supported full dentures, the companies announced. The application will be designed to accept standard stereolithography (STL) files from all open input devices, including intraoral, impression, and models scanners. It will also support all relevant output devices, such as Dreve 3D rapid manufacturing printers and various milling systems.

The DWOS Full Denture Application will contain the complete digitized Vita denture teeth library and will be seamlessly integrated with the DWOS Screw Retained Bar & Bridge Application.

The ability to design "prosthetically driven" implant bars based on the simultaneous virtual denture design propositions will give laboratory technicians the ability to achieve new levels of functionality and aesthetics, the companies noted. Similarly, technicians will be able to design and fabricate dentures supported directly on locator-type implant interfaces.

The DWOS denture application is expected to be completed this year and launched in early 2014.
