United Health Products has received formal notification of allowance by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its patent application for a hemostatic gauze product, HemoStyp. A patent will be issued shortly, and the company is pursuing additional applications and filings for its HemoStyp product line.
HemoStyp is an all-natural product made of regenerated oxidized cellulose gauze that is formulated to aid in the process of hemostasis when positioned on a cut or wound, according to the company. HemoStyp contains no harmful chemicals or animal byproducts and is hypoallergenic.
It is easily removed by dissolving it in water or saline solution. This method of removal neither disturbs the clotted surface nor encourages rebleeding.
The company expects its first orders from the dental and medical markets.
