Union Dental Holdings has filed a patent for an ozone purified water disinfector to be used in dental operatories.
The filing was done on behalf of a newly formed joint venture between Union Dental and Drinkable Air.
A field-tested prototype will be converted to a working production model by October 2012, according to the company. CAD drawings and 3D models are currently being developed so the molds can be submitted to the suppliers.
The invention sterilizes the water in 20 to 30 seconds and does not involve boiling or adding chemicals such as chlorine to the water, according to Union Dental. It is designed to rid dental lines of any live bacteria capable of causing disease.
