Alice DeForest, executive director of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), is retiring after 26 years of service.
DeForest joined the AAP as executive director in November 1986. During her tenure, AAP membership has nearly doubled to more than 8,500 periodontists worldwide, and its operating revenue has increased from $1 million to $11.5 million.
DeForest's official retirement date is October 2, 2012.
The AAP is currently seeking a qualified individual to become its next executive director and has retained the executive search firm Korn/Ferry International.
