Pamela McClain, DDS, of Aurora, CO, has been named the next president of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Board of Trustees.
The announcement came during AAP's annual meeting, held November 12-15, in Miami.
Dr. McClain maintains a full-time private periodontal practice in Aurora and serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. She began her career as a dental hygienist, and continues to have a deep appreciation of the important role the hygienist plays in the management of periodontal disease and patient education, according to the AAP.
She has been an AAP member since 1985 and previously served on the Board of Trustees as vice president in 2010 and secretary/treasurer in 2009. Dr. McClain has also been active on the AAP's Finance Committee, Continuing Education Oversight Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and Annual Meeting Committee. In addition, she has been a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology since 1992.
