Heraeus Kulzer has introduced Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel, designed to promote patient comfort during prophies, especially for those who've experienced sensitivity due to receding gums.
The PowerGel formulation allows for accurate control during placement and is suited for the cervical erosions, exposed dentin surfaces, and gingival recession hygienists may encounter during a prophy visit, according to Heraeus.
The Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel helps hygienists keep patients comfortable during prophy visits, and helps patients remain comfortable for six to nine months on erosion and recession, potentially eliminating the need for at-home treatment, according to the company.
The gel can also be used by dentists and assistants under crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, veneers, temporaries, and all direct restorations. Its gel consistency and green-color indicator also allow the practitioner to see exactly where the material is being placed and to rinse the area clean, and it can be used with all bonding and restorative materials, Hereaus noted.
