Crosstex has introduced a new in-office system, ConFirm 10, for the biological monitoring of steam sterilizers.
ConFirm 10 delivers results in 10 hours, whereas previous systems required incubation for at least 24 hours to obtain results, according to the company.
Indicators containing bacterial spores are processed in a normal sterilizer cycle, then placed in the ConFirm 10 incubator.
Industry guidelines in both the U.S. and Canada now stipulate that healthcare professionals verify the performance of their sterilizers with biological monitoring more frequently, said Andrew Whitehead, Crosstex senior vice president of sales and marketing.
"Weekly monitoring is currently required in 48 U.S. states," he added. "ConFirm 10 is the first system that enables the dental staff to process indicators at the end of the day and receive definitive test results, pass or fail, by the next morning."
