Canadian program brings dentistry to low-income youth

Ottawa Public Health will provide dental checkups to 10,000 low-income children and youth across the city, according to a report by 580 CFRA News Talk Radio.

The province of Ontario has allocated $2 million to implement the new dental program, the story noted.

Dental hygienists will provide services to six Community Health Centers and the aboriginal Health Access Center. A youth outreach initiative will also provide dental health screening, education, and preventive services.

Ottawa Public Health hopes to fully implement the program by the end of the year, according to CFRA.
