Nuline Pharmaceuticals' Remesense tooth desensitizer, introduced internationally in 2008, is now available in the U.S.
Remesense features a tray and impregnated foam strips that, according to Nuline, offer:
- A pressure gradient that is higher compared to a conventional solution or gel application
- An active ingredient proven to reduce hypersensitivity that is embedded in a foam matrix and is released in a sustained and controlled manner
The company also claims that Remesense provides the patient with:
- Immediate relief following a 10-minute application
- Unique, easy-to-use tray and impregnated foam strips
- Up to a month's protection
- Nonabrasive application
With Remesense, treatment can be initiated in the dental office, then a prescription given to the patient to continue treatment at home.
Competing products already in the marketplace include over-the-counter desensitizing toothpastes that take three to four weeks of use before offering varied results and require continual daily use, according to Nuline.
Remesense is currently sold in 16 countries. Nuline expects to launch the product in Canada and other countries later this year or in early 2011.
