IFDH installs new officers at Glasgow meeting

Maria Perno Goldie, R.D.H., B.A., M.S., was installed as the 2010-2013 president of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH) July 3 in Glasgow, Scotland, during the closing ceremony of the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH).

Goldie has served in numerous positions within the IFDH and the American Dental Hygienists' Association, including president-elect of the IFDH. She is a member of the National Speakers Association, the National Advisory Committee for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Smoking Cessation Leadership Center, and the National Advisory Committee for the Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry. She is also a visiting faculty member at the Universities of Rome and Pisa.

Additional IFDH officers installed at the symposium included JoAnn Gurenlian, R.D.H., Ph.D., president-elect; Catherine Waldron, R.D.H., M.Sc., vice president; and Leah Littlejohn, R.D.H., treasurer.

More than 1,200 dental hygienists from around the globe attended this year's symposium. The IFDH has 24 country members, represented at the House of Delegates in Edinburgh this year prior to the gathering.

The next ISDH will be 2013 in Capetown, South Africa, hosted by the Oral Hygienists' Association of South Africa and the IFDH.
