CariFree has developed Xyli-Tots Lollies, caries-fighting, sugar-free lollipops for kids that come in five flavors: cherry chuckles, citrus smile, grape giggles, lime laughs, and raspberry riddles.
The "secret ingredient" in the sugar-free lollipops is xylitol, a naturally occurring sugar substitute that targets cavity-causing bacteria and decreases acidity. The resulting neutralization and decrease of the harmful bacteria that cause the caries infection reduces the risk for cavities, according to the company.
"What is harder than trying to convince a 6-year-old to floss?" said Carri Cady, R.D.H., vice president of sales and marketing for CariFree, in a press release. "It is heartbreaking to realize how many children go through painful procedures to rid them of cavities which are so easily prevented. The Xyli-Tots Lollies are the perfect solution to keep kids and parents happy."
