Komet USA has introduced a new stainless steel bur block that holds up to 40 rotary instruments during the sterilization process, the company announced.
Bur Block 9945 was designed for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing of dental rotary instruments. It has 1 cm of space between each row, allowing individual laser etching, and the new model has a compartment to store used burs. This allows practitioners to keep used burs, designated for sterilization, all in one place, Komet noted.
Any Komet friction grip or contra-angle instruments stored in this block can be cleaned and disinfected either in an instrument and/or ultrasonic bath, or in the thermo disinfector, according to the company.
Before using a thermo disinfector, burs placed in the storage compartment must be precleaned, individually rinsed, and placed into the block's blue silicone plugs. The plugs hold instruments in place, preventing them from falling out, even when they are being sterilized in an autoclave.
