Philips begins marketing kids' power toothbrush

Philips Electronics has introduced the new Sonicare For Kids power toothbrush.

Sonicare For Kids has two power modes that are 60% and 40% less powerful than the Sonicare FlexCare, making the new toothbrush ideal for younger teeth and gums, according to Philips.

To help children progress toward brushing independence, Sonicare For Kids has a handle with two gripping locations: one for early training with an adult and one for solo brushing later on. The brush heads come in two sizes for different ages.

The toothbrush also offers the following features intended to make it more kid-friendly:

  • A KidTimer helps kids reach the recommended two-minute brushing time by progressively increasing time over 90 days.
  • KidPacer musical tones indicate when it's time to move to the next mouth quadrant.
  • Interchangeable front design panels lets kids change the look of their brush.

Sonicare For Kids is available now at www.philips.com/store or for presale at Amazon.com or Target.com, and will be available at Target stores in October. The suggested retail price is $69.99.
