Calif. accepting applications for state dental director position

The California Department of Public Health has posted the job description and application process for the state dental director, following the approval earlier this year of the position.

The description states that the state dental director will "direct and manage the Oral Health Program in the California Department of Public Health and provide leadership in establishing and implementing innovative strategies and policies that address oral health conditions."

The director's responsibilities will include convening statewide oral health stakeholders and participating in a statewide oral health coalition to "develop and publish a state Oral Health Plan." The director will also develop and publish periodic Oral Health Burden of Disease Reports and oversee the planning and publishing for, collection, and analysis of oral health data (including oral health surveillance) about the state of oral health in California. Identifying oral health issues, gaps, and needs are among the other responsibilities.
