Kaplan launches dental assistant program

The Kaplan College Dayton campus is now enrolling students for its new 11-month dental assistant diploma program.

The dental assistant program emphasizes hands-on instruction in the campus's new dental lab. The lab features Columbia Dentoform mannequins, digital imaging equipment, and practice management software, the school noted.

Students will learn treatment room care, infection control and sterilization, pharmacology and pain control, preventative dentistry, and a variety of other tasks. The dental program concludes with two externships that allow students to apply their techniques to real-world situations.

The program will be overseen by Kelley Lambert, a registered and certified dental assistant who has been in the dental assisting field for more than 12 years. Lambert received her dental assistant certificate from the West Texas Dental Assisting School and her bachelor's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
