An office worker at a dental practice in Madison, IN, was arrested for allegedly stealing about $300,000 from her employer over the past four years, according to an article on MadisonCourier.com.

The Indiana State Police and local county prosecutors have charged the defendant, Malinda Downey, with one felony count of theft so far, though the investigation is ongoing. State police arrested Downey on Wednesday for using OrthoTrac and QuickBooks management software at Pawlak Orthodontics to falsify payment records and retain deposits for herself. A complete audit found that nearly $300,000 was missing between 2014 and 2019. She had been an employee of the orthodontics practice for 17 years.

Downey pleaded not guilty during her appearance at Jefferson County Superior Court last Friday and was released on a $10,000 cash bond, with a trial date set for January 16, 2020.
