MetLife has launched a new program that provides dental coverage to those ineligible for employer-sponsored plans.
The plan, called TakeAlong Dental, covers part-time employees, consultant workers, and retirees, the company said. It includes the same network of providers and claims handling as the company's group dental insurance.
The program has been approved by regulators in most states, the company said.
According to a MetLife survey, 80% of employees say dental benefits are important when deciding whether to accept a job, and employees who have dental benefits are more likely to stay with the company.
