Forward Science Technologies, the developer of OralID and CytID, has donated a third OralID device as part of its OralID Facebook Charity Campaign to St. Christopher's Foundation for Children in Philadelphia.
Launched in May, the campaign's goal is to give back to underserved communities and spread public awareness of oral cancer. During the campaign, the company will donate an OralID device to a nonprofit organization for every 500 "Likes" on the OralID Facebook page. Devices have been donated to North Carolina Missions of Mercy in Cary, NC, at 500 "Likes" and the Free Clinic of Simi Valley in Simi Valley, CA, at 1,000 "Likes."
With the third milestone of 1,500 "Likes" in mind, Forward Science announced its winner in December. The votes by numerous Facebook users went to St. Christopher's Foundation for Children.
"Meeting the team at St. Christopher's Foundation for Children and seeing the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in person was an experience I will never forget," stated Debbie Zafiropoulos, RDH, who presented the foundation with its OralID device, in a press release.
The foundation is now able to add another important lifesaving tool to its Community Oral Health Initiative program, the company noted. The OralID device will enhance the examinations that the children receive while in the care of the St. Christopher's staff. While Facebook is mainly a socializing medium, for others it is a lifesaving tool. OralID encourages everyone to continue to "Like" the OralID Facebook page as they prepare for 2,000 "Likes" so the next nonprofit organization can receive the fourth OralID device in the campaign.
