LED Dental has released a camera system to complement VELscope Vx, designed to help detect and document abnormal mucosal tissue.
After shining the VELscope's blue light into the patient's mouth as part of an annual exam, doctors can document any mucosal abnormalities with the new camera system and share that information with an oral surgeon for further evaluation and biopsy, if necessary.
Highlights of the new camera system include the following:
- 12+ megapixel Canon digital camera
- Vx adaptor bracket for quick connection to the Vx handpiece
- Memory card
- Battery pack and charger
- USB and AV cable
- Quick reference camera guide and CD-ROM
"In the dental industry, we all know that early detection is the key to fighting oral cancer," said Nick Efthimiadis, vice president of global sales and marketing for LED Dental, in a press release. "VELscope Vx not only helps detect mucosal abnormalities, but with the addition of this new camera system dentists can quickly and easily take high-quality fluorescence and white light pictures as photodocumentation for their own records and to facilitate communication with specialists when a referral may be necessary."
The VELscope Vx camera system retails for $499.99 and is distributed by Henry Schein Dental.
