AADR honors UCSF professor for HIV work

John Greenspan, B.D.S., a professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), is the recipient of the 2010 American Association for Dental Research (AADR) Distinguished Scientist Award.

Dr. Greenspan will be presented with the award March 3 at the AADR annual meeting in Washington, DC.

Dr. Greenspan is a professor of oral pathology at the UCSF School of Dentistry and a professor of pathology in the School of Medicine. He is also founding director of three components of UCSF's AIDS program: the Oral AIDS Center, the campus-wide California AIDS Research Center, and the UCSF AIDS Specimen Bank.

"AADR is pleased to present Dr. Greenspan with the 2010 AADR Distinguished Scientist Award," said AADR President Grayson Marshall in a press release. "Dr. Greenspan's dedication to dental and oral health research has led to major contributions to HIV research and care, and he is uniquely qualified for this award."
