Fire destroys Va. dental association's offices

The Virginia Dental Association (VDA) was the victim of a lightning-sparked fire on July 29 that gutted the agency's office building.

The two-alarm blaze, which occurred after most of the association's eight employees had left for the day, also destroyed supplies the VDA had accumulated as part of its community dental outreach programs, according to an NBC12 story.

The VDA coordinates hundreds of volunteers to provide free dental services to people who can't afford regular dental care.

The association has temporarily relocated and will rebuild once a new site is determined, according to Terry Dickinson, VDA executive director.
