Swiftsure Innovations has raised $2.3 million Canadian dollars ($1.7 million U.S.) in funding to commercialize SwishKit, an oral care product designed for mechanically ventilated patients.
The funds will also be used to pay for a bacterial reduction study that follows the product’s first clinical use trial. Some research has shown that improving a patient’s oral care can reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, according to Swiftsure.
