The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) has been named a liaison organization for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC).
HICPAC advises CDC leadership on infection control practices and strategies for optimal surveillance, prevention, and control of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance. OSAP is the first oral health organization to be approved as a liaison organization, according to OSAP Executive Director Michelle Lee.
Eve Cuny will represent OSAP on the committee as liaison representative. Cuny serves as the vice chair of OSAP as well as an executive associate dean and an associate professor at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.
In the role, Cuny and others will be responsible for advising on the development and evaluation of infection control and prevention guidelines, developing policy statements, and creating and updating infection surveillance methodologies.
