When COVID-19 disrupted the dental industry in the spring, there were some who thought the shutdown would keep government regulatory agencies from keeping a close eye on the industry.
Well, we've already learned that the Environment Protection Agency kept its deadlines regarding amalgam separators in the dental practice. Now we also know that inspections from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are still happening as well. In September, OSHA cited a Massachusetts practice for six serious violations and one other-than-serious violation, amounting to a $9,500 proposed penalty.
Additionally, OSHA standards are expected to be a "top priority" under President-elect Joe Biden, meaning workplace safety will be a focus in 2021.
What do you need to know now to prepare for an OSHA inspection, and why could your employees be the key to one not happening? Mary Govoni, RDH, CDA, joined me for a recent episode of the Dental Assistant Nation podcast series, powered by IgniteDA. Govoni shares her advice and best tips regarding OSHA inspections and how you can be ready for one in a podcast that lasts just under 20 minutes.
