A dentist and an engineer in Mexico have teamed up to design a suit that protects medical professionals treating patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The suit prototype is filled with filtered air and forms an inflatable, protective bubble around a clinician. It can keep clinicians cool and features a hood with a clear face shield, preventing the need for a mask or goggles.
Creators odontologist Adela Rendón Campillo and biomedical engineer Fernando Avilés designed the suit to help dentists and other medical professionals continue to provide care during the pandemic. They discussed how they created the prototype in an interview with newspaper Milenio, which was in turn covered and translated by Mexico News Daily.
"This suit is wonderful because it keeps us absolutely isolated," Campillo said in the article.
