Hu-Friedy adds infection control hand care product line

Hu-Friedy has introduced its Hand Essentials line of hand care products, designed to provide dental professionals with medical-grade products for hygiene and help with infection control program compliance.

The full line of Hand Essentials has been designed specifically to help promote proper hand hygiene in the dental office, and consists of products that support the specific routines that dental professionals perform each day, including hand washing, sanitizing, and skin protection, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the company said.

Sterillium Comfort Gel hand-sanitizing gel is scientifically proven to kill 99.999% of a broad range of nosocomial pathogens within 15 seconds, and contains moisturizing emollients that are proven to significantly increase skin hydration after only one week, according to Hu-Friedy.

Hand Essentials Skin Repair Cream helps restore the skin's natural moisture balance and is uniquely suited for dental professionals, including those who are at high risk for skin breakdown due to frequent washing, the company said. The cream contains Olivamine to help deliver moisture and all of the essential nutrients necessary for optimal skin health, including amino acids, vitamins, antioxidants, and methylsulfonylmethane.

The Hu-Friedy Hand Essentials product line also includes Hand Essentials Instant Hand Antiseptic, an alcohol-based sanitizer that contains aloe and vitamin E to permit frequent use without drying the skin, and the medical-grade Hand Essentials Antibacterial Soap and Lotion Soap. For end-of-the-day moisturizing, Hu-Friedy is offering fragrance-free Hand Essentials Moisturizing Lotion, containing dimethicone, which creates a moisture barrier on the skin and helps hands stay smoother longer, due to its moisture retention properties, according to the company.

All the products have been tested to be latex- and chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG)-friendly, making them compatible with other products in the dental office.
