A woman in the U.K. learned about her husband’s affair thanks to the electronic toothbrushing app she downloaded to track her kids’ oral hygiene habits, according to a story recently published in The Mirror.

The mom synced the toothbrush app to her phone so she could monitor her kids’ toothbrushing habits, but she got a lot more than that. While tracking the activity, the wife noticed that brushing sessions were occurring at home during workdays and school hours, private investigator Paul Jones said in the story.

Calling it one of the strangest infidelity cases he has managed in more than a decade, Jones said the woman first noticed that toothbrushing was occurring during the late morning on Fridays and kept recurring.

Though this time should have been when her husband was at work, unbeknownst to the woman, he hadn’t worked on Fridays in months. Eventually, the woman found out that her husband was bringing his lover to their family home, and the toothbrush was keeping tabs on every brush session for every visit, according to the story.

Once the wife confronted him with the toothbrushing logs, the husband had to come clean. The app provided time-stamped data that made it difficult for him to explain why this technology showed him brushing his teeth at home numerous times when he should have been at work, according to the story.
