HuFriedyGroup has introduced a new line of Harmony ergonomic scalers and curettes designed with its TrueFit technology.
The sensor-based testing system measures pinch force in the finger and pressure applied to the tooth when scaling. HuFriedyGroup said it used a third-party analytics team to analyze more than 2.8 million data points from hygienists worldwide to develop the new ergonomic scaler.
The handle reduces pinch force by up to 65% compared with other scaler designs, which may alleviate hand fatigue and injury risk due to repetitive motion, the firm said. Also, the tooth surface receives 37% less pressure, which can increase patient comfort and reduce clinician fatigue, HuFriedyGroup added.

In addition, Harmony offers 30 working end options, including sickles, universals, and graceys. The working ends use EverEdge 2.0 technology, and the metal handle features a recessed double-helix texture. The silicone grip has been extended by 30% and provides a secure grasp with a geometric pattern specifically designed for stable grip in any direction, the company said
Harmony is now available for purchase in the U.S.
