Procter & Gamble (P&G) has reported increased healthcare division net sales for its fourth quarter of fiscal 2019. However, the company reported an overall $5.237 billion loss for the quarter, centered around its Gillette shaving brand.
For the quarter (end-June 30), net sales in the company's Health Care products division, which includes oral care products, were $2.038 billion, an increase of 13% compared with the same period in 2018. Overall company net sales were $17.094 billion, an increase of 4% from $16.503 billion in the same quarter of 2018.
The company reported a $5.237 billion loss in the quarter, compared with a $1.890 billion profit from the same quarter a year ago, citing issues in the shaving care field that included contraction, lower shaving frequency, and competition.
For fiscal 2019, the company reported net sales of $67.684 billion, an increase of 1% from $66.832 billion in 2018, and revenues of $3.966 billion, compared with $9.861 billion in the previous year.
The company's brands include Crest, Gillette, Head & Shoulders, Oral-B, and others.
