If you're anything like me and my practice, you're looking at the weeks that lie between now and the end of the year and trying to figure out how to finish 2020 on a high note.
For me, part of ensuring that all of us in our practice end the year doing all we can for our patients revolves around having conversations, both on the phone and in the chair.
With the end of the year comes the fact that many of your patients have met their dental insurance deductibles, and many also have yet to figure out how they're going to spend what's left in their health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA). I've had many patients who have found themselves trying to figure out what to do with those funds as the days roll by -- and my team and I have worked on the verbiage to let them know the options they may have for spending that money inside our practice.
Today, I want you to think about how that might work in your practice, knowing many of your patients have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). I also want you to think about how meeting the needs of your patients and impacting your bottom line can happen inside the hygiene room.
What do I mean by that? First, let's tip our caps to the hygienists as October is National Dental Hygiene Month. Let's also realize that hygiene appointments have changed since COVID-19 came into our lives, and our hygienists have done an incredible job navigating the tricky path of ensuring optimal care for their patients and their own safety as well.
As hygiene appointments have changed, there are some things I would like to recommend that every hygienist know and do as we wind down 2020 and prepare to hit the ground running in 2021. Watch the video below for my suggestions and see what benefits they might bring to your patients and practice.
As always, if you have questions or want to ask me more about incorporating sleep apnea discussions into your practice or anything else related to the topic of this article, please drop me a line at [email protected].
