The University of Southern California (USC) is updating its dental hygiene program for the fall 2019 trimester.
Dental hygiene and dental students will be able to take courses and seminars together at the USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. Class sizes will also shrink, with only 20 dental hygiene students in the class of 2021.
The changes are possible because USC is one of only a few schools in California to offer both dental hygiene and dental programs, according to the university. In the future, dental hygiene students will be able to collaborate with other professional schools at USC, including pharmacy, social work, and physical and occupational therapy.
