The Duke Endowment has granted the McLeod Health Foundation $2 million to implement an integrated oral health delivery model.
The foundation will use the grant to train medical providers to identify oral health problems and provide preventive oral health services, such as fluoride varnish for children. It also hopes to foster better collaboration between dentists and medical providers, particularly those who care for patients with diabetes.
McLeod Health is a nonprofit healthcare system with services throughout South Carolina and eastern North Carolina.
