The University of the Pacific (UoP) Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry will move the clinical training portion of its dental hygiene program to the school's San Francisco campus in January 2017.
The program's general education curriculum and clinical portion have been at the school's Stockton, CA, campus and the general education predental hygiene requirement course work will continue there, according to the university. Students in the 18-month clinical portion of the dental hygiene program will study and practice in the clinics at the San Francisco campus after January 2017.
The program's move will allow for the following:
- Increased connection to the school's San Francisco-based dental clinics and programs
- Enhanced intraprofessional opportunities in the field of oral healthcare opportunities for hygiene students to learn alongside other dental students
- Access to a large base of patients who use the school's San Francisco clinics
The baccalaureate-level program allows graduates to pursue positions in multiple areas of hygiene practice and also entry into advanced degree programs.
