The First 5 San Bernardino Commission approved a $2.1 million grant to the Center for Oral Health (COH) to improve dental health in San Bernardino, CA
Over the next three years, the grant money will build upon existing efforts in the region, specifically Oral Health Action Coalition of the Inland Empire (OHAC-IE), through the Early Smiles Program. The program works with local community organizations to strengthen the health infrastructure and increase access to quality oral healthcare for young children and pregnant women.
"This award is an authentication of the vision of OHAC-IE, and a testament to the leadership and the commitment of First 5 San Bernardino to improving the lives of San Bernardino's youngest residents," stated Conrado Barzaga, MD, executive director of COH, in a press release. "We are thrilled to be a part of re-engineering a system of health care that will have a meaningful impact on the people it serves."
