Oral Health America (OHA) will use a $50,000 grant from the Annenberg Foundation to expand oral healthcare and education to children in Southern California.
The grant will allow a Smiles Across America (SSA) California Learning Lab to improve access to care, increase the number of children they reach, and increase knowledge in the field in Southern California, according to the organization.
"We greatly appreciate this opportunity to increase our presence in Southern California thanks to the generosity of the Annenberg Foundation," stated OHA President and CEO Beth Truett, in a press release.
A network of community-based organizations will be established with the funding. These organizations will share best practices and lessons through a Share and Learn symposium, meetings, and educational webinars.
Through SAA, OHA provides program partners with grant funding, technical assistance in communications and coalition building, and product donations to reach more underserved and uninsured children. The program reached more than 460,000 children and distributed more than 500,000 units of donated dental products in the last year.
