Mentally ill people in Kansas will be able to get dental care when new programs start next year.
People with mental illnesses without dental insurancee will be able to get care starting in January through a partnership between Valeo Behavioral Health Care and the Community Health Ministry, according to a cjonline.com story.
Currently, patients on Medicaid can get dental prophylaxes and other basic care, but many people who have mental health or substance abuse disorders haven't been able to receive routine healthcare and have more advanced problems, according to the story.
The Community Health Ministry will perform basic prophylaxis and provide education. Those who need more extensive care will be referred.
