Connecticut will allow standalone adult dental plans to be sold through the state's public insurance exchange, Access Health CT, for 2015.
Connecticut will also tighten network requirements and create "reasonable access" standards for health plans, according to a ctmirror.org story. Insurers will be required to offer at least one high-deductible plan coupled with a health savings account, and will be required to offer at least one gold-, one silver- and two bronze-level plans.
People looking for adult dental insurance through the exchange for 2014 were routed to the website of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which sells standalone dental policies that meet the exchange's criteria for coverage.
Although they don't cover adult dental care, the health plans sold through the state's exchange, already cover dental care for children up to 19, and that's not expected to change.
