Indian cigarette maker entering oral health market?

Indian company ITC, which makes and sells 80% of the cigarettes in the country along with other ventures such as hotels, food, and personal care, has set its sights on the nation's oral health market, according to a report by Business Standard.

The Indian toothpaste market alone is growing by 19% annually, making it an alluring target for business. In particular, GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) success with Sensodyne has attracted attention; the tooth-sensitivity toothpaste segment is currently growing at 30% to 40% annually, the article noted. GSK and Colgate have added to their product lines recently, with an emphasis on gum care and teeth whitening.
