The Nebraska state auditor's office will take no action against the University of Nebraska's dental college over the sale of study guides containing old tests and notes, according to the Associated Press (AP).
In a letter to dean John Reinhardt dated October 23, Nebraska state auditor Mike Foley said he believes the college has halted the sales, so no further action is needed, according to the AP.
Foley initiated his investigation after a 20-year practice of students selling the 1,200 page study guide to first-year students was brought to Reinhardt's attention (see full story here). Reinhardt immediately halted the practice.
The state's concern had been about the sale of university intellectual property, according to Foley.
The university is looking into implementing a policy similar to that of the medical school, in which students have access to past exams in a controlled setting without any means of copying the material.
