Planmeca has introduced a new CAD/CAM module for its Romexis dental imaging software.
The module is designed to streamline the workflow for capturing, analyzing, and exporting digital impressions, according to Planmeca. Once a user has scanned everything, they can mark margin lines with tools, analyze and measure impressions, add bases to create 3D-printable dental models or send the scans to a dental laboratory or third-party CAD software application for restoration design and manufacturing, the company said.
In addition, Planmeca will soon include a new tool for simulating orthodontic treatments.
As of now, the Romexis CAD/CAM module is currently available for scanning only for users of the vendor's Emerald intraoral scanner who don't design or mill restorations in-house, Planmeca said. Those who are interested in performing design and manufacturing can currently use Planmeca's PlanCAD Easy software, according to the firm.
