Royal Philips has launched a new power toothbrush with a smartphone app.
The FlexCare Platinum Connected toothbrush connects via Bluetooth to a new app that contains a specialized map of the mouth and other features, according to the company.
The mouth map shows in real-time the areas a user missed or pressed too hard on during brushing. The app also includes a reminder of when it's time to change the brush head.
The toothbrush has sensors in the handle that are similar to those on a mobile phone, allowing the pinpointing of specific regions of the mouth. According to company data, 87% of users who tested the toothbrush claimed to be a better brusher after a week.
The toothbrush will be available in retail locations at the end of June and to dental offices at the end of July. The app is free and available on all smartphone platforms. Suggested retail cost is $199.
