iPad users now have even more flexibility in handling x-ray images and communicating with patients with the latest release of the Sidexis iX app from Sirona Dental.
The app is designed to make it easy to access x-ray data from the Sidexis XG database on the computer in your practice, the company noted in a press release.
It can be used in two different modes. In the online mode -- when the iPad has a wireless local area network (WLAN) connection -- users can access all patient files in the PC database (remote access). To view and process data offline as well, the desired patient files are selected in online mode and synchronized to the local database on the tablet.
Dentists can use Sidexis iX on an iPad for patient consultations to explain findings and treatment options during the treatment, according to Sirona. The app also enables dentists to order x-rays from the iPad and view the next patient's data on the way to the treatment room. With the new version, users can search the database or sort patient files according to specific criteria.

This version has all the processing and sorting functions but does not feature remote access to the central image database and does not synchronize data or send x-ray orders. Sidexis iX is compatible with Sidexis XG computer software from version 2.56 and higher.
