3D imaging firm Medit has announced the release of its i700 intraoral scanner, which builds upon the success of the i500.
The new scanner is powered by a camera that captures up to 70 frames per second (fps), which will lead to more data with each pass. This results in a smooth and quick scanning experience with realistic colors and a crisp image, Medit said.
In comparison to the i500, the i700 features a smaller camera and other internal components. The resulting redesigned handpiece is smaller and lighter than the original, weighing 245 g (8.64 oz).
Medit also redesigned the tips, which are now reversible and autoclavable 100 times, increasing comfort of use and ease of maintenance. The cable is also now detachable for easy maintenance and improved portability, the company said.
A new remote control mode has been developed for the i700 for user comfort, allowing the clinician to always keep his or her hands on the unit and easily show the patient the scan data.
