CHICAGO - Carestream Dental launched its new CS 3600 intraoral scanner and the CS 7200 imaging plate system at this week's 2016 Midwinter Meeting.
The CS 3600 intraoral scanner provides high-speed, continuous scanning, an Intelligent Matching System, autoclavable tips, and high-definition 3D images, according to the company. Continuous scanning provides accurate digital impressions and faster dual-arch acquisition. The matching system allows users to fill in missing information for any area in the dataset. Users can jump to any position in the mouth without the need to indicate an exact location to the system or to follow a specific direction; the scanner will "autolocate" for the user.
The 13-mm scanning range doesn't need to be kept at a fixed distance to produce scans; whether hovering or briefly resting the scanner on a tooth, users can use any method without disrupting the flow or the image capture process.
The scanner comes with two rounded, interchangeable tips -- normal and side-oriented -- so users can capture scans in hard-to-reach areas. Both styles are autoclavable and can be used up to 20 times. Scans are available as both 2D and full HD 3D color images. The HD 3D color feature offers high image quality with color and texture that reflect in-vivo anatomy. The images provide the precise detail needed for automatic or manual margin line identification.
The company also launched the CS 7200 imaging plate system, an ultracompact system that delivers high image quality, quiet scanning, and resolution of 17 lp/mm. New image processing delivers optimized contrast and low-noise images. Preprogrammed anatomic filters, including endodontic, periodontic, and dentin-enamel junction filters, enhance image contrast according to diagnostic needs with one click.
